Tom Tingle My dad (Air Force) came back from Vietnam and got orders for Germany. Sailed the SS United States from New York to Le Harve in August of 1969. I was 14 and the time and it was quite the adventure. I’ve loved ships ever since ! Made a special trip to Philadelphia to see her in 2015. Sad to see her tethered and rusting away, paint peeling and abandoned. I heard someone bought her and plans to do some sort of restoration. Sure would love to see that !
